A Tibetan Family History (The Rubin Museum)

Author Ann Tashi Slater talks about her Tibetan family history, from 1920s Tibet to twenty-first-century Darjeeling. The event will include a discussion of the friendship between Slater’s great-grandfather, S. W. Laden La, and the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. Through photos, film clips, and readings from Slater’s work, the evening will be a reflection on vanishing traditions, cultural legacy, and the exploration of family history as a modern-day pilgrimage.
